Abstract
The term quality of life was first in the history used already in the 20?s of the last century, namely in the connection with considerations about economic development and the role of the state in the field of material subvention of the poor people. In the 60?s this term had showed up again in USA, when then president Johnson declared improving of quality of life as an objective of his in-state policy.
He had in mind that the indicator of social welfare is not the mere quantity of consumed goods (how much), but how the people live under certain conditions (how good).
