Depletion of ATP and oxidative stress underlie zin-induced cell injury

Abstract

Acute exposure to zinc induced changes in Hep-2 cells which included rise in metallothionein expression, increase of intracellular labile zinc stres, oxidative stress and necrosis-like phenotype in exposed cells. Prevention of ATP loss and inhibition of oxidative stress stimulated apoptosis-like phenotype in treated cells.
