The authors present a case of a 47-year-old man with idiopathic myelofibrosis. The diagnosis of myelofibrosis was made in 1981.
Because of progression of the disease and failure of hematopoiesis in 2002, allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation was performed; the donor was an HLA identical relative. Six months after transplantation, trephin biopsies were made and a complete regression of bone marrow fibrosis was documented.
It is the first case of this treatment for idiopathic myelofibrosis in the University Hospital in Hradec Kra´love´.
