Calcitonin in practice of out patients departments for climacteric disorders

Abstract

Salmon calcitonin is prescribed by osteologic centers and by endocrinologists in the first place to patients with osteoporosis connected with a marked algic syndrome who cannot for some reasons use any antiresoption medicine (HRT, biphosphonates, raloxifen). Gynecologists know calcitonin only theoretically, and prescribe it for treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis only exceptionally.
