Orland's conceptual model and demonstration of its application in internal nursing

Abstract

The presented study points out the possibilities of Ida Jean Orland´s conceptual model application by nursing procedures in internal medicine nursing care. It provides a framework for data collection and analysis in interactive processes between nurses and clients/patients, with the essential aim of meeting patient needs.

The model shows how to avoid stress and anxiety states, possibly to identify stress factors which evoke these states, and consequently how to meet the patient?s physical and mental comfort or well-being. In the case report of a 59-year-old patient, the author applies acquired knowledge from nursing anamneses to the systematic framework of Orland´s model.
