Abstract

Autosomal dominant spinocerebellar araxias provide a useful model of cerebellar pathology in studying of nonmotor functional deficits. The study was undertaken to determine the role of cerebellum in visual information processing.

For electrophysiological evaluation of the visual processing in patients with spinocerebellar ataxia we used visual event related potentials examination. Preliminary data support the notion that cerebellum can play a role in visual information processing, particularly in motion perception mediated by magnocellular system.
