Abstract

The preparations obtained from the stool of Cimicifuga racemosa (black cohosh) were subjected to investigation for their effect, alleviating hot flushes, but the exact mechanisms of their effect still remain unknown. Among the substances of the plant having active therapeutic effects are triterpens of glycosides, including actein, 27-deoxyactein and cimicifugosides.

Available forms of preparation, such as GS-Merilin, are standardized in contents of 27-deoxyactein but various forms and doses in various preparations make it difficult to carry out comparative studies.
