Some new therapeutics for postmenopausal osteoporosis

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2006

Abstract

There are two steps in the osteoporosis therapy: basic therapy and specific one. Basic therapy is represented by calcium and vitamin D supplementation (if no contraindication).

Specific therapy was represented by anticatabolic drugs (calcitonin, SERM, bisphosphonates). New type of therapy osteoanabolic is now possible by using strontium ranelate or small doses of parathormone (PTH).
