Gabapentine. Treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders with gabapentine

Abstract

Gabapentin is a new generation antiepileptic drug approved for the use in the patients with partial epilepsy and nerupathic pain. Gabapentin has been also effective in the treatment of many neuropsychiatric disorders: restless leg syndrome, tremor, headache, hiccup, depression, bipolar affective disorder, anxiety, withdrawal syndromes in alcoholism and cocaine dependence, in many patients also improves global quality of life.

In our paper we present recent survey about gabapentin treatment possibilities in the spectrum of neuropsychiatric disorders.
