Abstract
On 28-30 September 2006, a European Society of Pathology (ESP) Course on pathology of the thyroid gland was organized by the Fingerland Department of Pathology in Hradec Kralove (Czech Republic). It was attended by 40, mostly young, pathologists from the Czech and the Slovak Republics.
The course was presented by leading experts on this topic - Professors Gianni Bussolati (Torino, Italy) and Manuel Sobrinho-Simoes (Porto, Portugal). The course comprised a combination of lectures, histological demonstrations, and hands - on discussions at microscopes, covering all main areas of threopathology (tumors, inflammations etc).
The main histopathological aspect was supplemented by cytology of the thyroid (Assoc. Profs.
Ales Ryska and Jaroslava Duskova) and by a clinician's view (Assoc. Prof.
Jan Cap). The course was higly appreciated by the attendants.
