Abstract

Free nitrotyrosine was assayed in exhaled breath condensate using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in children with cystic fibrosis (stable disease), well-controlled asthma and healthy children. The mean concentrations were less than 1 nmol/L and no differences were found between groups.

Therefore, nitrotyrosine is not valuable indicator of oxidative stress in children with cystic fibrosis and asthma.
