Abstract

In my dissertation we examined visual evoked potentials (VEPs) and event-related potentials (ERP) in 26 patients suffering from migraine. The control group exhibited in emotional passive ERP significant reduction of non-target amplitude compared to the target one (p>0.004), however, there was no reduction presented (p>0.2) in migraineurs.

The aim of second study was to verify a diagnostic value of visual evoked potentials in 67 patients with suspected Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - the motion-onset VEPs (M-VEPs) and the pattern-reversal VEPs (PREPs). In clinically definite MS (n = 39) were abnormal VEPs in 69%.

PREPs were abnormal in 25 patients and M-VEPs results in 16 patients. In third study we investigated 100 adults with neuroborreliosis of two types of VEPs M-VEPs and PREPs. 46 patients exhibited pathological results in M-VEPs, which was accompanied by prolonged latency of the main peak of the PREPs (P100) in 14 cases only.
