Abstract

The study deals with the importance of the administrative center of the Upper Lusatia - Bautzen. The Bautzen castle, Ortenburg, is the place where the representative of the king of Bohemia called "zemský fojt" or "landvogt" resided and the chancellery and the collegial chapter worked.

In the same time, Bautzen was quite a rich and large town. Several diplomatic negotiations took place in Bautzen, in particular in February 1350 (meeting between the Luxembourgs, Wettins and Wittelsbachs) and in the spring 1364.
