Derivative morphology in synchrony and diachrony : example of French deverbative nouns in -ment

Abstract

The paper provides a morpho-syntactic description of French deverbative nouns in -ment (on both synchronic and diachronic levels) and an explanation pattern based on some principles of the Optimality Theory.
