Abstract

Arnošt of Pardubice ranked among the foremost counsellor of Charles IV, in particular in the first years of the Charles's reign. Obviously, he was engaged in Charles's policy (for example: the recognition of the fake Waldemar in Brandenburg.

Later, his attitude became more careful: he did not attest the purely secular documents as often as before, but his influence on the emperor, on the emperor's legislative policy, as well as on the culture of his period was still considerable.
