Differentiation of human embryonic stem cells into osteogenic or hematopoietic lineages: A dose-dependent effect of osterix over-expression

Abstract

We attained HESC subpopulations expressing two significantly different levels of osterix (Osx), following lentiviral gene transfer. The high Osx levels induced the commitment towards the hematopoietic-endothelial lineage, the low levels of Osx stimulated the osteogenic differentiation.
