Abstract
Deposit insurance scheme has been established to ensure the safety of deposited money and the overall stability of the banking sector. The purpose of this article is to analyse models of deposit insurance, schemes existing in the European states (notably in the Czech republic) and in the United States and changes undertaken in connection with financial crisis.
