Fusca sum et formosa. Holiness of the Church and Holiness of Soul in Origenes´ Expositions to the Song of Songs

Abstract

In Origenes´ Expositions to the Song of Songs, holiness of the Church seems to be holiness of the individual “Church souls” purified by their proximity to Christ. Speaking on the Church as a “black and comely bride”, Origenes does not mean the Church to be holy and a sinner at the same time.
