Abstract
The article analysis the approach to urban history in the discourse published by the research network CLIOHRES. The microcosm of cities is explored as a representation of the society of the period or of its mentality.
Urban history stand for an important field of social history. Collective identities and frontiers are concepts frequently used in the study of social functions of cities.
