Abstract
The fourth volume edition of "Biomedical Informatics", entitled "Data and Knowledge in Biomedicine and Health Care", discusses the various types of data and knowledge with which we encounter in this area. It covers a wide area ranging from aspects from signal and image processing in medicine through the database and information systems to telemedicine applications and modeling of biological systems.
Data and knowledge is a key element for the quantification of information in each area. The area biomedicine is not an exception.
