Physical elements of the eclipsing binary delta Ori

Abstract

A recent paper (Harvin et al. 2002) claimed surprisingly low masses for the components of the early-type binary delta Ori. Using new spectra taken with the 2 m telescope in Ondrejov we found this was due to erroneous identification of the secondary lines in the binary spectra.

The existing spectra do not allow the detection of secondary lines, therefore it is probable that the parameters of the binary components correspond to their spectral types.
