Abstract
A shorter version of a longer study on the relationship of the American novelist John Updike to the Swiss Protestant theologian Karl Barth. Barth?s theological influence is manifested in some Updike?s novels.
And vice versa: In some of his book reviews Updike has proved to be knowledgeable of Barth?s theological methods and of the concerns of Christian theology as such.
