Abstract
The article Československá tisková kancelář jako součást ustavování státní suverenity(Czechoslovak Press Agency as Part of the Constitution of State Sovereignty)describes the historical relationship between the state/government and the state news agency Československá tisková kancelář/Czechoslovak News Agency (ČTK, founded 1918). This tradition originated in the 19th century (Telegraphen-Korrespondenz-Bureau (Korbyro, founded 1859/60) and as such precedes the era of state socialism.
The text explains the role of news agency ČTK in the First Republic (1918-1938) as the key institution in the media system.
