Abstract

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Kingdom of Bohemia was a statutory corporation which, within the political system of Cisleithania, participated in a rather extensive range of public service. While it played a significant role in the system of self-government and partly legislature, it also managed agriculture, public health, national education, social services, etc.

Consequently, it also influenced the economy. Also during this time, land administration faced several complications caused primarily by the growing nationalist conflict between the Czech and German population.

The Czechs controlled most of the land institutions, but were not able to utilize them well. Meanwhile, the representatives of the German citizen-politics used the political system imperfections to delay the work of land administration.

They wanted the Czech side to step back and accept German interests.
