Oral History in Finland

Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

Stories of ordinary people and their analysis and interpretation on the field of „big history“ are a source of knowledge of a unique kind (not only) in northern Europe. Tomáš Bouška describes his recent findings in oral history application and development in the Finnish universities and research institutions.

Using interviews with major Finnish oral historians he points at benefits of their work in terms of expansion and building up of local humanities. At the same time, the author aims at delivering thematic inspiration for the Czech OH research circles.
