Abstract
Sexual fantasy is an integral part of everyday human existence. Because sexual fantasies are private and do not depend on the participation of a sexual partner, they may be more revealing than actual behaviour of gender differences in sexuality.
The following text is a review of recent studies concentrated on gender differences in the incidence, frequency and content of sexual fantasies. Finally, it proposes possible explanations of the differences.
