Abstract
The article focuses on the conflict between the Habsburg Monarchy and the Ottoman Empire in the years 1716-1718. The article tries to analyze above all the military-political point of view of this war which meant the greatest territorial expansion of the Habsburgs on the Balkan Peninsula for a long time.
The treaty of Passarowitz 1718 brought a trade agreement that set up the basis for the upcoming economical expansion of the Habsburg Monarchy on the Balkan Peninsula and in the Middle East.
