Abstract
Inherited metabolic disorders (IMD) are relatively rare diseases with various, often non-characteristic symptoms, the one of the most serious being mental retardation. Depending on the clinical picture and basic laboratory results, a selective choice out of the investigation program is made for every individual patient.
Various screening methods and approaches to treatment of IMD are specified.
