Abstract
This lecture was held in the framework of the seminar "Jewish history 4" in the Center for Jewish Studies by the University of Palacky in Olomouc. The students learned about general development of the Jewish settlement in central lands of the Ottoman Empire, about the structure and functioning of a Jewish community and about the relations of the Jews with the state and Ottoman society.
