Abstract
The article is a report on lecture, a note on the lecturer and the translation from English of the Peter Clark lecture (University of Helsinki), one of the most important urban historians in Europe, whose lecture was held on October 8, 2009 at Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague. It was one of the lectures devoted to current trends in urban studies taking place since spring 2009 at Faculty of Arts.
The theme of the lecture - green space in cities - is derived from the international project and book edited by Peter Clark and published by Ashgate in 2006 ("The European City and Green Space. London, Stockholm, Helsinki and St Petersburg, 1850-2000").
