Abstract

The author looks at the connections between migration and the life cycle. She observes the social aspects of migration and also waht moments in life were decesive in determining whether persons settled pemanently at their place of birth or left the location.

The majority of people who left their place of residence did so in connection with the stage in life when young people were trying to lern certain skills so that they would be able to establish a more stable position for themselves, which would then put them in the position to be able to start a family. Also important, in terms of migration, was the moment when young people chose their partner.
