Abstract

This contribution elucidates some main contours and baroque elements in the design of the pluri-disciplinary late Bielefeld thinker Niklas Luhmann’s (1927-98) systems theory; further than this, it shows the baroque paving stones of our contemporary situation, so that we see the modern as a circa 1600-present unit of time, the baroque absolute so to say. The chapter also illuminates how contingency, evolutionary biology, information theories, self-reference and structure, outfit and terrace Luhmann’s advanced systems theory.
