Graduates of the Master’s degree programme in Middle Eastern Studies, with a specialization in Languages and literatures of the Middle East, have an advanced knowledge of one of the languages of the region (Arabic, Persian or Turkish) at C1 level or are able to work independently with sources in this language. They have basic skills in one other language of the region.

They have a grounding in the literatures and religions of the Middle Eastern region while they have a profound understanding of issues related to the topic of their Master’s thesis. They have mastered the relevant secondary literature and have excellent skills in academic English.

They have a profound understanding of Middle-Eastern cultures, including their inner diversity resulting from historical transformations as well as their mutual relationship with European culture.
